Tarot Tuesday

Hi everyone!  We sure had fun last week kicking off Tarot Tuesdays, so here we are, back again with another interesting insight into the mysteries of the universe...

Seriously, it's really quite interesting the way that you can connect to the Tarot.  For me it brings attention to some are of life that needs a bit of focus, perhaps something I have an inkling of, or has been rummaging around in the back of my mind.  Drawing particular Tarot cards and letting my mind be open to the first impressions they make often gives me insights at a deeper level.  Of course kitties ALWAYS think and act at a deeper level, so maybe their insights are more of a " well... yeah Mom... doesn't everyone get that?" kinda thing.  Who knows?

So today's deck is  the "Tarot for Cats" deck, by Regen Dennis and illustrated by Kipling West.  These cards descriptions were definitely written with our furry loved ones in mind, but I think we're tricky enough to interpret them in our mere human lives, don't you?

So today Tipp drew the card.  Well... actually, he stepped on it.  But it was the first one he landed on, so I'm good with that.

The Chariot

So this is a card that shows that this cat has arrived.  But how did he get there?  His fancy wheels? Nope. That's not what got this guy to where he is today.  You don't get to be truly the "Top Cat" without intense focus, determination and doing whatever it takes to get to your goal. The Chariot tells you that you WILL get there, but reminds you that there are possibly some distractions along the way.  Notice the deep shiny black car with it's contrasting whitewall tires?  Those opposites may have you thinking this way or that, but if you just keep your wheels rolling on the road without taking detours, you'll get there.  It's about focus.  The single mindedness that you see when your kitty "winds up" before the pounce.  You've seen it.  The intense focus. They are all about that mousey and it is going to die, die, DIE!!!!  I know when Tipp goes into that mode, a stinking bowl of tuna couldn't change his focus and he gets his prey every time.  And then boy does he do the "Top Cat" strut, carrying it around the house, I have no choice but to follow along, stick in hand on his leash!

Has there been something keeping you from your goals?  Now's the time to refocus and get back on the road. The Chariot says you'll get there as long as you are willing to do the work!

Welcome to Tarot Tuesday

Hello everyone and welcome to Tarot Tuesday!

As the gang told you,  I have been fascinated by "tools of divination" since the way back, and I have been delving back into working with Tarot cards and Runes in the last year or so, using them primarily for  personal meditation and growth.  I do find them to be great tools to help me "think outside the box" on matters, a card or rune drawn in relation to a matter at hand can offer me a new way to think about the situation, particularly if I am stuck in my head, or going round and round, or if I don't see the greater message in what is going on.  A particular card gives me a focus, and it often gives me a "light bulb" moment and some clarity.  And besides that, it's fun!

I have several decks of cards, including a few different "cat themed" decks (surprise, surprise), so I thought I would draw a card once a week, and share some insights with you.

Actually, I am going to try to get one of the kitties to draw a card for you, and maybe they'll get a clue gain some insight as well.  Regardless, let's have some fun exploring ....

The first card we're going to visit is from the Cat's Eye Tarot deck, by Debra Givin, DVM.  Yep, that's right Dr. Debra is a vet with an exclusively feline practice called "The Cat Doctor" in Maine.  She uses Tarot in the same way I do, as a "tool for reflection and way to think through a situation", and of course she's a cat lover, so how could I NOT have this deck!  Her cards show cats in their natural state, doing things cats do, yet she has related them to traditional Tarot deck meanings.

Dexter was the only one awake with me just now, so I sat down on the couch with him, fanned out the deck and waited. And waited. And... waited.   Finally, when the moment was right  he yawned, and stretched and his paw landed on this card... the Six of Wands!

Are any of us surprised he pawed out a card with a big ol' Ginger Mancat strutting his stuff ?  Well, based on this confident fellow's look, he's just scored some big victory, something was won here.  The it is definitely the card of something successful, but let's look a bit closer...

While this Tom has definitely had things going his way, you have to wonder at what cost.  The other kitties around him are not exactly cheering him on, in fact that Tuxie is definitely flying him the "ears of annoyance".  Perhaps this Ginger boy is a little to cocky in his glory, or perhaps he stepped on a few toes getting where he was going.  The Six of Wands begs us to look at our success with an eye toward humility and how things affect the harmony around us.  While sometimes the Ginger boy wins a spot on mom's lap, it doesn't always mean his brother won't be a bit jealous and it may garner him a whap with a paw or at least a flattening of the ears in disrespect as he hops off the couch in search of dad.  It's not that you can't enjoy the good things in your life, it's just that this card asks the question "at what price, victory?".

I hope you enjoyed this first little taste of the Tarot.  If you haven't already, check out our Facebook page, I'm going to be posting some chances for you to pick a card for your own insights, and in a couple weeks I'll be giving away a mini-reading with the deck of your choice!   I hope you'll enjoy this as much as I will!

Mom's new promise...

We're still here everyone... just hanging out in the "great white north" of the Michigan Mitten, doin' what cats do while their humans go through the twists and turns of life...

Mom says she has really missed blogging, and wishes she had more hours in her day to visit and keep up with all our friends with us, but things change and, we're just really happy she said she'll be starting to do some more!

So we got her to promise to shoot for 2 posts a week.  One post will be our choice, and could be about darn near anything our furry hearts desire... noms, nip, naps.... you get the idea....

The other post she's gonna have some fun with something else that interests her... Tarot Cards!!!

Mom has always been fascinated by fortune telling and cards since she was a kitten kid... she remembers using playing cards with her friends to figure out it  Johnny So-and-so would ask them to a dance... asking advice from a "Magic Eight Ball"  and looking to contact  "the other side" with a Ouija board...

Well, her interests and understandings have matured a bit since then (matured? We don't know if we would have quite put it that way...MOL!)  and Mom has worked with things like Tarot Cards and Runes as a way to help herself and other people to look deeper at their lives and living, a way, she says to help "think outside the box" (which we don't really understand, because why would you want to be out of a box, when you could be in one?).  So once a week Mom is going to post a card from one of her cat card decks and share some of it's meanings with us.  We thinks this could be kinda fun!

So look for us on Tuesdays, with "Tuesday Tarot" and then another day with some other feline goodness as we attempt to hold our Mom to her promises!  For now, here is a little something to kick off our return... this is the card Mom pulled from the "Cat Comfort Cards" deck by Kat Lover and Kitty Wisdom, illustrated by Diana Hocking.  We thinks it's pretty appropriate!

Have a great weekend efurrybody!
